Doutorada em Altera\u00e7\u00f5es Clim\u00e1ticas e Pol\u00edticas de Desenvolvimento Sustent\u00e1vel pelo Instituto Superior de Agronomia da Universidade de Lisboa (2023), \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m mestre em Ci\u00eancias do Mar, Zona Costeira e Ambiente pela Universidade Agostinho Neto (2009) e licenciada em Biologia pela mesma institui\u00e7\u00e3o (2002).<\/p><p>Com mais de quinze anos de experi\u00eancia no estudo e conserva\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade, etnobot\u00e2nica e ambiente, \u00e9 investigadora s\u00e9nior do Centro de Bot\u00e2nica da Universidade Agostinho Neto, onde tem coordenado e participado em diversos projetos cient\u00edficos de relev\u00e2ncia nacional. Entre os mais not\u00e1veis, destacam-se o <em>Levantamento da biodiversidade vegetal e do conhecimento etnobot\u00e2nico da prov\u00edncia do Bengo<\/em>, centrado na valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o do conhecimento tradicional e na conserva\u00e7\u00e3o do patrim\u00f3nio natural e cultural; o <em>Estudo dos mangais da costa angolana<\/em>, dedicado \u00e0 restaura\u00e7\u00e3o de ecossistemas com pr\u00e1ticas sustent\u00e1veis; o <em>Estudo geobot\u00e2nico da regi\u00e3o do Cuanza Sul<\/em>, voltado \u00e0 recupera\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1reas degradadas e promo\u00e7\u00e3o de corredores ecol\u00f3gicos; e o projeto sobre a <em>Biodiversidade da Bacia Hidrogr\u00e1fica do Baixo Cuanza<\/em>, que visa estrat\u00e9gias de adapta\u00e7\u00e3o e mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o face \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas.<\/p><p>Paralelamente \u00e0 investiga\u00e7\u00e3o, exerce fun\u00e7\u00f5es docentes no Departamento de Ensino de Biologia da Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias Naturais da Universidade Agostinho Neto e atua como consultora na \u00e1rea da biodiversidade e ambiente. Tem ainda orientado trabalhos de licenciatura e disserta\u00e7\u00f5es de mestrado em temas de ecologia, gest\u00e3o ambiental e conserva\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p><p>A sua produ\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica inclui v\u00e1rias publica\u00e7\u00f5es de refer\u00eancia, entre as quais <em>Plantas Amea\u00e7adas de Angola<\/em> (2009), <em>Biodiversidade em Cabinda \/ The Biodiversity in Cabinda<\/em> (2012), <em>Plantas Medicinais de Angola<\/em> (2013) e o artigo <em>Plantas amea\u00e7adas em Angola \u2013 estado actual<\/em> (Revista Internacional em L\u00edngua Portuguesa, 2019). \u00c9 tamb\u00e9m autora do livro <em>Esp\u00e9cies Marinhas Mais Frequentes na Costa Angolana \/ Most Common Marine Species on the Angolan Coast<\/em>, previsto para publica\u00e7\u00e3o em 2025.<\/p><p>Tem apresentado comunica\u00e7\u00f5es em encontros cient\u00edficos nacionais e internacionais, abordando temas como os ecossistemas de mangais, a valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o do conhecimento etnobot\u00e2nico e a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de servi\u00e7os ecossist\u00e9micos, com interven\u00e7\u00f5es em eventos em Angola, Portugal e \u00c1frica do Sul.<\/p><p>Manuela Pedro distingue-se pela dedica\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 investiga\u00e7\u00e3o aplicada \u00e0 conserva\u00e7\u00e3o da flora e dos ecossistemas angolanos, aliando o rigor cient\u00edfico \u00e0 valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o do saber tradicional e ao compromisso com o desenvolvimento sustent\u00e1vel e a mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o das altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eafc392 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"eafc392\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21e571d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"21e571d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Manuela Paula Constantino Pedro<\/strong> is an Angolan biologist, researcher, and university lecturer, originally from Lobito, Benguela Province. She holds a PhD in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies from the Institute of Agronomy, University of Lisbon (2023), a Master\u2019s degree in Marine Sciences, Coastal Zone and Environment from Agostinho Neto University (2009), and a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Biology from the same institution (2002).<\/p><p>With more than fifteen years of experience in the study and conservation of biodiversity, ethnobotany, and the environment, she is a senior researcher at the Botany Center of Agostinho Neto University, where she has coordinated and participated in several nationally relevant scientific projects. Among the most notable are: the Survey of Plant Biodiversity and Ethnobotanical Knowledge of Bengo Province, focused on valuing traditional knowledge and conserving natural and cultural heritage; the Study of Mangroves along the Angolan Coast, dedicated to restoring ecosystems through sustainable practices; the Geobotanical Study of the Cuanza Sul Region, aimed at rehabilitating degraded areas and promoting ecological corridors; and the Biodiversity of the Lower Cuanza River Basin Project, which seeks adaptation and mitigation strategies in the face of climate change.<\/p><p>Alongside her research, she teaches in the Department of Biology Education at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Agostinho Neto University, and works as a consultant in biodiversity and environmental fields. She has also supervised undergraduate and master\u2019s theses on ecology, environmental management, and conservation.<\/p><p>Her scientific output includes several reference publications, including <em>Plantas Amea\u00e7adas de Angola<\/em> (2009), <em>Biodiversidade em Cabinda \/ The Biodiversity in Cabinda<\/em> (2012), <em>Plantas Medicinais de Angola<\/em> (2013), and the article <em>\u201cPlantas amea\u00e7adas em Angola \u2013 estado actual\u201d<\/em> (<em>Revista Internacional em L\u00edngua Portuguesa<\/em>, 2019).
